What I like about Hostgator is all the tools they have inside the cpanel which is the interface where you configure everything. Real time stats from Awstats, I think they are the only one that offer this, usually you only get updated stats on a daily basis.

Sometimes it is very handy to be able to update the stats when you want to. For example if you have done changes to your web site and want to see the results right away.

Bluehost started providing web hosting in 1996 and they have thousands of happy customers, this fact speak for itself.  This is a good and reliable web hosting company that i use myself on some of my web sites. It may not be the cheapest hosting out there but if you want it cheaper web hosting than $6.95/month you will probably have less support, uptime and tools.

The reason Bluehost comes second in my opinion is that they have less features. They still have everything that most web site owners will need. Here is all the features and tools they provide. Are you going to use some applications on your web site that requires some special script then it is wise to look at the features before you choose your web hosting provider, this is very important.
